Join Leica Akademie and photojournalist Mathias Heng in Beijing, China, one of the great ancient capitals of the world, home to some of the finest remnants of China's imperial past.

Participants in this workshop will experience what it’s like to be a photojournalist documenting the society and life in Beijing, understand its unique culture, and learn how to frame pictures in their minds.

Highlights include shooting the courtyards of Huton in the early hours to capture the real Beijing culture. In Hutong, every home is closely connected to one another through interweaving of lanes, making it easy for the local people to keep in touch with their neighbors. There, you can feel the deep and warm relationships among people that have lasted through the ages.

Participants will also can have the chance to visit The Great Wall of China, and enjoy the natural scenery, and bask in the aura of its grand history.

There are also many royal landscape gardens in Beijing like Beihai Park, that has over 1,000 years of history. Beihai Park is not only a classic combination of the grandiosity of the northern gardens and the refinement of the southern gardens in China, but also a perfect integration of magnificent imperial palaces and solemn religious structures.

Another highlight would be the popular tea houses in Beijing, such as the Laoshe Teahouse that will transport you back to the 1930s.
