Ray Tan

Ray Tan was born in Singapore in 1976. His interest in photography developed after he was given a small camera, with which he used as a visual journal to record daily events. After several years working at a financial institution, he left to become a freelance photographer. While photographing editorial and documentary stories for magazines, he began to work on a personal assigment about Teresa Hsu Chih. Images from this assignment were featured on CNN. Ray has taught photography at many institutions including the Canadian International School, Hwa Chong International School, Anderson Junior College, and The Substation. Ray’s works have been exhibited at the National Museum (2003) and The Photographers’ Gallery Singapore (2005).
