Birds are the most visible wildlife around us and they are the indicators of the state of our natural environment. Alan OwYong has been fascinated with birds since young and his birding journeys have taken him to almost every part of the globe. For his most recent trip, he travelled to Israel to follow the 24 hours Bird Race “Champions of the Flyway”.

Alan has been involved in nature conservation as a member of the Nature Society (Singapore) since the late 1980s and helped in the proposal to conserve Sungei Buloh.

He was the former Chairperson of the Bird Group and is currently a member of the Birds Record Committee. He is also the administrator of the Singapore Birders Facebook Group and the Singapore Bird Group Blog, which publishes the monthly bird reports.
